APC designed and developed a Drone Pilot course and framework in partnership with the Institute to allow greater accessibility to learning drone technology.

Each course, available on the institute’s website, is a self paced, certified course designed to prepare participants with the knowledge and skill to safety pilot drones under 2kgs.

The induction course is a self paced online course with 12 modules. After completing the modules, budding pilots or those already operating in the sub 2Kg class, will become familiar with CASA regulations to fly safely.

APC developed the Rangelands NRM and Institute for Drone Technology Sub 2kg Policy and Procedure Set containing:

  • RPA Management framework
  • RPA Policy
  • RPA Safety Management Procedures, and
  • RPA Safe Work Method.

Although it is not a CASA requirement for pilots to hold a RePL (formal commercial drone license) when flying drones under 2kg in a job or even for commercial work there are still CASA requirements and standard operating conditions that pilots must adhere to.
